Fly fishing at Lowestoffe Country Lodge, Hogsback

 

Lowestoffe Country Lodge is a known and valued destination for those keen on fly fishing; truly a Trout fisherman’s paradise!

There are 4 fully stocked Trout dams and a bass dam as well as the 18 km of Klipplaat River that offers numerous scenic spots from which to cast a line for Yellow fish or Trout.

Lowestoffe Dam and Poplar Dam are located on Lowestoffe Farm, both within walking distance of Trout Lodge. The other two Trout dams are situated on Woodhouselea Farm and are accessible by 2x4 LDVs. The bass dam is a comfortable stroll from both Woodhouselea and Rockford Lodge.

“I have been trout fishing in Ugie, Maclear and Barkly East area since my childhood days and at 8:45am this morning I lost the biggest trout I have ever seen. Must have been in the 60cm and 2kg plus region. Water cold and clear. It fought me for about 20 minutes then the hook bent open. Will be back at Lowestoffe Dam for the next round, on an annual basis. Rainbow  trout healthy and very strong!”
